Indiana Energy Assistance Program (EAP)
The Indiana Energy Assistance Program (EAP), funded through the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), helps eligible households pay heating and energy costs. Benefits are paid directly to your utility provider to help offset your bill. The program typically opens each fall and operates while funding is available.
If you’re having trouble paying your bill
If you believe you may qualify for Energy Assistance:
- Apply as soon as applications become available.
- Contact Ohio Valley Gas if you’ve received a past-due or disconnect notice.
- Ask about available payment arrangements while your application is being processed.
Winter Moratorium Protection
Under Indiana law, residential natural gas service generally may not be disconnected between December 1 and March 15 for customers who are eligible for and have applied for the Indiana Energy Assistance Program. Additional protections may apply during certain extreme weather conditions.
