Deposit Requirement
When you apply for residential gas service you will be required to make a cash security deposit unless you can establish credit worthiness by the appropriate method below:

METHOD 1: If you have been a customer of any other utility within the past two years, and,

  • Owe no outstanding bills for service rendered by such utility, and
  • Did not have during the last 12 consecutive months service was provided, more than two bills which were delinquent to any utility or if service has been rendered for a period of less than 12 months, did not have more than one delinquent bill in such period, and
  • Within the last two years did not have service disconnected by a utility for nonpayment of a bill for services rendered by that utility.

METHOD 2: If you have not been a customer of any utility within the past two years and you can meet any two (2) of the following three criteria:

Criteria 1:

  • You have been employed by your present employer for two years or more, or
  • You have been employed by your present employer for less than two years but have been employed by only one other employer during the past two years, or
  • You have been employed by your present employer for less than two years and have had no previous employment due to recently having graduated from high school, college, or other vocational program, or recently have been discharged from military service

Criteria 2:

  • You own or are buying your home, or
  •  You are renting a home or apartment and have lived there for more than two years.

Criteria 3:

  • You can furnish a letter from a business or bank indicating that your payments to them have been made on a timely basis.
  • A new or additional deposit may be required from a customer who receives disconnect notices for two consecutive months or for any three months within the preceding twelve-month period, or whose service has been disconnected for nonpayment.
